TRASH AND RECYCLING COLLECTIONS ON HOLIDAY SCHEDULE BEGINNING THURSDAY

PHILADELPHIA  - In support of the operational and logistical efforts for Thursday’s parade and celebration of the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl LII victory, Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams announced that Thursday’s trash and recycling collections will be delayed one day. Trash and recycling collections will follow a holiday schedule beginning Thursday, February 8thwith collections one day behind for the remainder of the week.

Thursday’s trash and recycling will be collected Friday. Friday’s trash and recycling will be collected Saturday. We will resume a normal collection schedule on Monday, February 12th.  The one day delay in collections will allow the Department to dedicate staff to operations surrounding the clean-up during and post-parade.

The Department is planning the following services along the parade route: 80 blocker trucks dedicated to crowd control, ten compactors for trash and recycling collections, 12 mechanical brooms and 25 backpack blowers.
